MKVToolNix is a free and open source, multi-platform, universal and powerful set of tools for working with MKV format files

MKVToolNix supports working with many video codecs and subtitle formats (AVI, DivX, XviD, MP4, ASF, MOV, WMV AAC, AC3, MP3, OGG and many others);
It is possible to edit videos: cut and glue (split/merge) video fragments, add/remove audio tracks and subtitles (SRT, ASS, SSA and VobSub);
It is possible to convert video files of various formats to MKV format;
It is possible to edit the headers;
It is possible to add and edit chapters;
It is possible to view technical information about the file;
It is possible to change the frame rate (FPS), or set the playback delay (for synchronization of sound and image), as well as change the aspect ratio and more.

The software MKVToolNix is available for installation on Linux, Windows and macOS.
