oStorybook is a free and open source tool for writing fiction: novels, novellas, short stories, and screenplays


  • It is possible to divide the text into separate scenes, arrange them by internal chronology and storylines;
  • There is support for a database of characters, locations (locations), scenes, objects;
  • It is possible to give a description of the added character;
  • You can import and export projects;
  • The program also allows you to build charts, frequency of use and time of existence of characters, locations and storylines, and so on;
  • There is the ability to customize the program’s interface: hide/show different blocks;
  • There is a search and replace.
