CoreChess is a graphical interface for various chess engines. A free and open source game



Review

  • It is possible to save/download games;
  • You can pause the game;
  • It is possible to undo moves;
  • It is possible to customize how to play the game: the choice of which chess to play, the choice of the type of player (human-human, human-AI, AI-AI), if you play against AI – the choice of the game engine, the time for the return move and others;
  • There is a history of previous games (a database of games): you can view the moves of the game;
  • Available game modes: human vs engine, human vs human, engine vs engine;
  • Available chess engines: Gnuchess, Leela Chess Zero, Stockfish. It is possible to add other chess engines;
  • Supported chess engines: UCI (Universal Chess Interface) such as Stockfish, Komodo/Dragon and Leela Chess Zero, CECP (Chess Engine Communication Protocol) such as Crafty;
  • Game Settings: selecting the player’s name, turning on/off the sound, saving the gameplay when exiting the game, choosing a light and dark theme, support always on top, you can customize the color scheme and others.
