KGeoTag is a photo geotagging program. Free and open source

Review

  • Supported image formats: JPEG, PNG, WebP, TIFF, OpenRaster and Krita Document. Geodata can be downloaded from (uncompressed) GPX files;
  • Automatic tagging support: Automatic mapping using geodata provided by GPX files;
  • Drag and drop interface: tagging images using drag and drop. You can select one or more images and place them on the map at the appropriate location (possibly also using some GPX track);
  • Assigning images to bookmarks: For places that are often assigned to images (for example, at home, where you do not have a GPS recorder), you can define bookmarks. Then the images can be easily assigned the appropriate coordinates;
  • Manual assignment: You can also enter coordinates for one or more images manually. Heights can either be searched automatically using opentopodata.org , or also entered manually;
  • It is possible to save coordinates: KGeoTag can either write them to the Exif header of images (which will obviously change the corresponding files), to XMP sidecar files (leaving the source files intact), or both.
