KPhotoAlbum – free and open source software for organizing and viewing images for Linux



Review

  • The program’s home page displays: keywords (tags), places (locations), people, tokens, folders, data type (photos or videos), EXIF metadata, search and unmarked images, the lower part displays the calendar row;
  • There is the possibility to add annotations to images and videos. You can add annotations to one or more items;
  • The default categories in KPhotoAlbum are Event, Places, People and Token. If these categories do not match your needs, you can add and remove categories in Settings –> Categories;
  • You can assign tags to images and videos to improve navigation;
  • Besides browsing based on categories you can use the date bar at the bottom of the screen to limit the scope to a certain date range. To do so, click or drag the mouse below the bar graphs of the date bar;
  • Support for viewing images using slide shows (regular and random selection);
  • Images can be sorted by date and time, old and new;
  • You can use the “privacy” function to set certain images as passwords;
  • Good search with different parameters;
  • Keyboard shortcuts support;
  • You can customize the toolbar;
  • The program allows you to configure: displaying thumbnails, categories and subcategories, the viewer, enable and disable modules, EXIF/IPTC;
  • Export plugins: remote computers, Rajce.net, jAlbum, SmugMug, Dropbox, Piwigo, KML, Flash, Flickr, 23, Zooomr, Google Drive, Imageshack, Facebook, Yandex.Fotki, Imgur;
  • Import plugins: remote computers, Google Drive, SmugMug;
  • Batch plugins: Batch RAW converter, border images, color images, convert images, image effects, filter images, rename images, recompress images, resize images, and DNG converter.
