QuiteRSS is a free and open source, cross-platform software for reading RSS/Atom news feeds



Review

  • The software interface: the top menu button and tabs, just below the control and filter buttons, as well as the search bar, below on the left are displayed categories and sources (added news feeds), just below the filter block (unread, favorites, deleted and tags), on the right are headlines and a news excerpt;
  • Support for importing and exporting feeds in OPML format;
  • There is a built-in browser (WebKit) with support for tabs, ad blocking via AdBlock and Click to Flash, as well as support for printing and saving the page in HTML;
  • Automatic updates of news feeds are available at the start and according to a schedule (periodically) in general for all feeds and for each one separately;
  • It is possible to change the status of the news to read/unread, as well as mark all the news as read;
  • There is filtering. Source/feed filters: all, new, unread, favorites, and non-working. News filters: all, new, unread, favorites (with and without a star), unread and with a star, for the last day, for the last 7 days. It is possible to create custom filters with different parameters;
  • You can also filter by categories: unread, favorites, deleted, and tags;
  • It is possible to add articles to favorites (mark the news with an star), as well as add/assign labels to the news;
  • It is possible to open news in the software window, in the tab of the built-in browser and in an external browser;
  • You can disable image loading in the built-in browser;
  • There is a cleaning of tapes according to the criteria;
  • There is an opportunity to share the news;
  • There is a file upload manager;
  • There are notification settings;
  • Integration with the system tray: display of new incoming news or the number of unread news, the number of new news;
  • Proxy support;
  • It is possible to configure text and sound notifications;
  • There is a search for sources/news feeds, as well as a search in the news: in titles, in authors, in categories, in descriptions, in links and in the browser;
  • It is possible to flexibly configure the software interface: remove/add blocks, configure toolbars;
  • There are two layouts for displaying news feed headlines: classic and newspaper;
  • Full-screen mode support;
  • There are functions “Stay on top of”;
  • There is a hiding of the tree of feeds and categories of news for more convenient viewing of articles;
  • Support for custom keyboard shortcuts.
