Safe Eyes is a free and open source program for Linux users to protect against eye strain



Review

  • You can set the interval between two breaks (in minutes) and the duration of the break (in seconds) for short and long breaks;
  • You can enable/disable the following options: mandatory break (you can’t cancel breaks), permission to postpone breaks (you can determine the duration of the delay);
  • It is possible to determine the time period when the keyboard is locked;
  • You can customize the exercises that you want to perform during short and long breaks: you can edit, add, and delete exercises.

Plugins:

  • Do not disturb: skip the break if the active window is in full-screen mode;
  • Notifications: show notifications before breaks;
  • Audible Alert: play audible alert before and after breaks;
  • Integration with the system tray: hide/show the icon in the system tray, as well as program management via the icon;
  • Smart pause: pause the program if the system is idle;
  • Screen saver: lock the screen after a long break by launching screen saver;
  • Statistics: show program usage statistics;
  • Media control: pauses media players from the break screen.

  • You can disable the program for a certain period: 30 minutes, 1, 2, 3 hours, before restarting the system;
  • You can enable the “Rest now” option.
