Shotwell is an free and open source easy-to-use, fast personal photo organizer designed for Linux

Review

  • The program window consists of two parts. The left part contains navigation and information on photos, videos, and RAW images (Events, tags, trash, file information, and last import), and the right part contains the files themselves, whether they are photos, videos, or RAW images;
  • When you first open Shotwell offers to import images;
  • The program has the function of cataloging, viewing, navigation and collection management. Photos, videos, and RAW images can be sorted by type, by marked files, by rating, as well as by title, date of shooting, and in ascending and descending order;
  • Also in Shotwell you can view photos in full screen mode and slideshow mode;
  • You can export photos with various parameters: format (JPEG, PNG, TIFF), image quality as a percentage, zoom restrictions (actual size, width, and height), with metadata export;
  • You can evaluate photos and add tags to them;
  • The photo Manager has the simplest editing functions: rotation, auto-correction of image color and tone, cropping, alignment, red-eye removal, and correction;
  • There is an advanced search that allows you to search for photos by various parameters: date, file name, any text, label, rating, and others, as well as makes it easier to save the search query;
  • Shotwell can upload your photos to various web sites, such as Facebook, Flickr, Google Photos, and YouTube.
