SimpleScreenRecorder is a free and open source linux software for created to record (screencasting) programs and games

It is possible to record:

You can select the frame rate;
You can set the width and height;
Show/hide cursor when recording;
You can pause and resume recording at any time;
You can choose what you want to record audio with;
You can select video and audio formats (+select bitrate);
Shows statistics during recording (file size, bit rate, total recording time, actual frame rate, …);
There is a preview to check the correctness of the programs and settings made;
You can also make a live broadcast (experimentally);
Support for keyboard shortcuts;
Integration with the system tray: stop and resume recording.

The software SimpleScreenRecorder is available for installation on Linux.
