Stacer – free and open source optimization and monitoring tool for Linux system



Review

  • Dashboard: overview of computer resource usage: CPU, RAM, and disk space, as well as system information;
  • Startup Apps: shows which programs are launched at system startup, and also allows you to add/edit/remove/delete a program from autorun;
  • System Cleaner: scan and clean: package caches, crash reports, application logs, application caches, trash (you can individually select parameters or select all / also, in each of the parameters, you can choose what exactly to delete);
  • Search. Here you can search for files, directories, and symbolic links. Advanced search options are available;
  • Services. Starting and stopping system services. You can filter system services based upon its status: enabled/disabled and running/not running. Here you can enable or disable the available system services, both at launch and at the moment;
  • Processes: displays all workflows and allows you to complete the selected process. You can sort each column (PID, CPU and memory usage, etc) in ascending or descending order, and search for individual processes in the search bar;
  • Uninstaller. Overview of all packages that are installed on your system (deb, snap). There is a search, you can delete several packages at once;
  • Resources. The Resources tab displays the last 60 seconds of CPU, RAM, Disk, CPU Load Average and network activity. If you have four, eight, or more cores, Stacer shows them individually in contrasting colors. To view each plot separately, press the button next to the History of CPU;
  • Helpers. Host Manage. Information about the IP address, full name (qualified), and aliases is displayed here. You can sort and edit hosts, as well as add new hosts;
  • APT – Repository Manager. You can disable, edit, or delete the PPA repository, as well as perform a search;
  • GNOME Settings. You can configure various parameters: text quality, workspaces, mouse pointer behaviour, desktop icons, background image mode, screen application;
  • Settings. It is possible to change the interface language, select a disk, select the start page (by default, Dashboard), configure alerting messages about reaching the threshold in percent (CPU, RAM, disk filling), autorun the Stacer program, ask/don’t ask about quitting the program.
