VYM (View Your Mind) –  free and open source, multi-platform tool to generate and manipulate maps which show your thoughts



Review

VYM allows you to customize toolbars and auxiliary windows:

  • To show or hide it;
  • Move to the desired location;
  • Change the size of the auxiliary window.

  • The object property of any branch can be opened in the auxiliary window; VYM tracks all changes made to the map. By default, the number of changes that can be undone is 10000. You can view the full history in the history window: View – > change History or CTRL+H;
  • Working with macros: each function key [F1] – [F12] contains a macro that is executed at the current selection, if the key is pressed. The default macros change the colour of a subtree or set the frame of branches;
  • VYM works with bookmarks;
  • Support for the Drag and Drop function (dragging objects with the mouse);
  • You can link an image to a map branch;
  • There is AutoSave (you can configure the AutoSave interval);
  • It is possible to create a backup copy when saving;
  • You can choose a color for any object on the map;
  • You can select a font family, font style, font size, and writing system, and apply the following effects: strikethrough and underlined;
  • There is a search;
  • Saving the map in .vym format;
  • You can use the flags;
  • Images can easily be added to a map by a simple click;
  • Print support;
  • Support for keyboard shortcuts.
